Luma (Dream Machine) Review 2026: Dream Machine Is Deprecated -- Luma Is Now an Agent Platform Built Around Ray3.2
If you searched for "Luma Dream Machine", here is the first thing to know: Luma's own info page, updated July 13, 2026, says Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated. What Luma sells today is an app with creative agents, its own Ray3.2 video model (up to 16 keyframes, native HDR, 16-bit EXR, 20 seconds at 1080p) and Uni image models, plus Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Seedance and others that you pay for in the same credits. Plans are Plus $30, Pro $90 and Ultra $300 a month; Ray3.2 1080p costs 400 credits per 5 seconds, and Veo 3.1 costs 1,400. Public sentiment is thin and harsh -- 1.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 65 reviews -- and the free tier is not described on any Luma page I could read. This review keeps the old URL slug but reviews today's product.
| Product status | Dream Machine deprecated; Luma app + agents |
| Free tier | Trial exists; limits not published |
| Cheapest paid plan | $25/mo yearly ($30 monthly) |
| Flagship model | Ray3.2 (Jun 2026), HDR + EXR |
| Trustpilot | 1.5/5, 65 reviews |
Dream Machine, the product this review was commissioned for, no longer exists under that name -- Luma is now an agent platform that sells its own Ray3.2 video model next to Kling, Veo and Seedance.
"I opened Luma's pricing page expecting Free, Lite, Plus and Unlimited, because that is what every 2026 pricing guide still prints. It shows three individual plans -- Plus $30, Pro $90, Ultra $300 a month -- and a credit table where Luma's own Ray3.2 sits among Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, MiniMax H3 and Flux 3. Luma's own machine-readable info page, last updated July 13, 2026, says it flatly: Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated. So the real question is no longer whether Dream Machine is good. It is whether you want Luma's Ray3.2 and its agent workspace, or whether you are really shopping for one subscription that reaches many video models."
My answer is conditional. Ray3.2 is genuinely aimed at professional pipelines -- up to 16 keyframes, native HDR, 16-bit EXR export, 20 seconds at 1080p -- and Luma's customers include agencies and brands. But the sentiment record is poor on Trustpilot (1.5 out of 5 across only 65 reviews), the free tier is not described anywhere I could read, and the most expensive credits are for models Luma did not build. JAVIS did not run a controlled hands-on test; this is a VERIFIED EDITORIAL REVIEW from official pages and public evidence. The URL slug keeps "Dream Machine" because readers still search for it; the article is about the product Luma sells today.
A creative workspace with agents on top, Ray and Uni models underneath and partner models on the side.
Luma describes itself as a "creative AI platform for video generation and image creation" powered by its Ray video models and Uni image models, with creative agents handling end-to-end workflows. The consumer surface is the Luma app (browser and iOS) with Plus, Pro and Ultra plans; Team and Enterprise are contact-sales; developers use a separate API with Build and Scale tiers. The model lineup on the pricing page includes Ray3.2 and Ray3.14, Uni-1 for images, and third-party video models Seedance 2.0/2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 / Omni / 3.0 Turbo, MiniMax H3 and Flux 3, plus ElevenLabs audio, Nano Banana and GPT Image models.

Well funded and well connected -- with revenue and user numbers Luma has not published.
Press-reported: led by HUMAIN, with AMD Ventures, a16z, Amplify, Matrix and Amazon named. Luma's own pages JAVIS read do not state the figure.
Luma's own release: MENA regional HQ in Riyadh, Arabic-native models with HUMAIN Create, Publicis Groupe Middle East as preferred partner.
TechCrunch: Publicis, Serviceplan, Adidas, Mazda and HUMAIN named; Luma's claim of a $15M, year-long campaign localised in 40 hours for under $20,000 is the company's own.
JAVIS found no Luma-published ARR or user count; third-party estimates exist and were not used.

Few reviews, mostly angry, about credits and cancellation.
"The free trial produced great results, but as soon as I paid for a subscription, the quality dropped dramatically." Several reviews echo the free-vs-paid quality gap.
"I cannot cancel my subscription online. The 'Manage at Luma AI' link from Stripe/Link sends me into a redirect loop." Cancellation and slow support are repeated complaints.
4.51 from 1,793 ratings for the iOS app still titled "Luma Dream Machine" (version 2.0.8, last updated Apr 17, 2026). It predates the March agent relaunch, so it may not reflect the current product.
Three self-serve plans, a free trial Luma does not itemise, and credits that cost very different amounts by model.

Decide by output standard, not by brand.
Use the free trial -- but treat quality as indicative only; some reviewers report a drop after upgrading, and Luma does not publish the free limits.
Ray3.2 is the reason to pick Luma: native HDR and 16-bit EXR export, up to 16 keyframes, 20s at 1080p. Expect 2x-3x credit costs for HDR/EXR.
Luma and Pika both do this; check each credit table for the exact models and compare per clip, not per credit.
Agents, Skills and Variants (Oct 1, 2026) are aimed at this; ask for Team pricing with SSO.
Use the API: Ray3.2 5-second text/image-to-video is $0.15-$1.20 depending on resolution.
Set a spending limit in account settings (per Luma FAQ) and test cancellation early.
A video model built around direction: keyframes, HDR and EXR, face tracking and reframing.
Ray3.2, announced June 9-10, 2026 with an API for the first time, is Luma's current video model. Per Luma's announcement and trade coverage it adds up to 16 keyframes in one clip, enhanced performance tracking for up to 8 faces frame by frame, native HDR and 16-bit EXR export, an upgraded Reframe tool and up to 20 seconds at 1080p. The pricing page shows the other half of the story: a Draft mode at 20 credits per 5 seconds for cheap iteration, then 540p, 720p and 1080p steps, with HDR at 2x and HDR+EXR at 3x. Ray3.14 (announced January 26, 2026) remains in the table at lower per-second rates.

Published by the official "Luma" YouTube channel; the video was listed on the channel page youtube.com/@lumalabsai, the same handle linked from lumalabs.ai.
| Ray3.2 mode (credits per 5s) | Draft | 540p | 720p | 1080p |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Text / image to video, SDR | 20 | 50 | 100 | 400 |
| HDR (x2) | 40 | 100 | 200 | 800 |
| HDR + EXR (x3) | 60 | 150 | 300 | 1,200 |
| 10-second SDR clip (page lists separately) | 60 | 150 | 300 | 1,200 |
- Keyframes, HDR/EXR and face tracking are specific, checkable features documented in Luma's own announcement and the credit table.
- The credit table shows exactly what HDR and EXR cost.
- JAVIS did not generate or benchmark Ray3.2 footage; the spec comes from Luma and trade coverage.
- Ray is not in the top 15 of the August 2026 Artificial Analysis table JAVIS checked.
Brief in, variants out -- how the agent layer is meant to be used.

Luma's bet is that the model is a commodity and the workflow is not.
Luma Agents launched March 5, 2026 as an orchestration layer that coordinates Luma's own models with partner models and keeps context across a project. Skills (June 17, 2026) lets a team build a creative workflow once and rerun it; Variants (October 1, 2026, live for all users in the Discover tab) takes one approved static ad and rebuilds it in Story 9:16, Portrait 4:5, Square 1:1, Medium Rectangle 6:5 and Widescreen 16:9, with language swaps. Plans scale Agent usage: Pro is "4x usage with the Luma Agents" and Ultra "15x". Luma has not published what one unit of Agent usage is, so I cannot translate that into hours or projects.

- Reusable Skills and Variants attack real agency pain: repeating the same adaptation work across markets.
- The agent can route to the cheapest suitable model, which matters when Veo costs 1,400 credits per 5s.
- Agent-usage multipliers are unquantified.
- Case-study numbers (for example the $15M campaign localised in 40 hours) are Luma's claims.
Partner models, ElevenLabs audio and a "Connectors" layer -- details thin.
The pricing page lists partner audio from ElevenLabs (v3 speech at 21 credits per 1,000 characters, SFX v2, Music v1, stem separation), Whisper v3 transcription, Sync lip-sync models, and image models including GPT Image 2/2.5, Nano Banana 2/Pro and Seedream. The Luma app page lists "Luma Connectors" ("Your stack is already where your work lives") and shows DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF and caption icons, but JAVIS could not find a connector list or an MCP page, so I will not claim one.
| Surface | What is verified | What is not |
|---|---|---|
| Partner video models | Listed with per-second credit costs on lumalabs.ai/pricing | Feature parity with each vendor's own app |
| ElevenLabs audio | v3 speech, SFX v2, Music v1 priced in credits | Voice-cloning availability |
| Connectors / MCP | A "Luma Connectors" heading on the app page | Connector list, MCP server |
Two API tiers, clear per-clip ranges, no minimum on Build.
The Luma API (platform.lumalabs.ai) offers Build -- pay per use with no minimum commitment, rate limits and no latency SLA -- and Scale -- provisioned capacity from a minimum of 4 units (1 unit = 1 request per minute on base models, 0.4 on Max), with SLA, moderation, prompt enhancement and a "no-train guarantee". Published prices:
| Ray3.2 / Uni-1.1 item | Price |
|---|---|
| Text or image to video, 5s | $0.15 to $1.20 by resolution |
| Video to video, 5s | $0.72 to $2.16 |
| Reframe | $0.06 to $0.36 per second |
| HDR / HDR+EXR | 2x / 3x SDR |
| Uni-1.1 text to image, 2K | $0.0404 to $0.1000 |
| Uni-1.1 image editing | $0.0434 to $0.1030 |

Best for ad, film and brand teams who care about keyframes, HDR and workflow reuse.
| Work pattern | Why Luma fits | Likely plan |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial / VFX-leaning studio | HDR, EXR, keyframes, face tracking in Ray3.2 | Pro or Ultra |
| Agency localising ads | Skills, Variants, agents, Team SSO | Team |
| Solo creator trying many models | One plan reaching Kling, Veo, Seedance and Ray | Plus |
| Developer embedding video | Ray3.2 API with published prices | API Build |
| Someone hunting for "Dream Machine" free daily credits | That product is deprecated; the free trial is not itemised | Test the trial, then decide |
| A budget-sensitive hobbyist | Premium models burn credits quickly | Cheaper model or draft mode |

Five real gaps.
Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated, but a "Luma Dream Machine" iOS app and many 2026 guides still use the old names and plans. Expect confusion about what a plan includes.
Luma says you can try free; none of its own pages JAVIS read state credits, resolution or watermark rules. Third parties say watermarked and non-commercial -- unverified.
Trustpilot: 1.5/5, 65 reviews, 84% one-star -- a small sample, but consistent on credit burn, quality variance and cancellation.
Veo 3.1 costs 1,400 credits per 5s at 1080p with audio; Seedance 2.5 955. Luma's agent layer is the product, not necessarily the cheapest route to those models.
Pro "4x" and Ultra "15x" Agent usage have no stated unit; customer-case numbers are Luma's own; no revenue or user count is published.
Choose by what you are optimising.

Questions people are actually searching right now
Is Luma Dream Machine still a product?
Not under that name. Luma's machine-readable info page (updated Jul 13, 2026) states that Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated; the company now sells the Luma app with agents, Ray3.2 and Uni-1. An iOS app is still titled "Luma Dream Machine".
How much does Luma cost?
Individual plans: Plus $30/mo ($25 yearly, $300), Pro $90 ($75, $900), Ultra $300 ($250, $3,000), with 10,000 / 40,000 / 150,000 credits. Team and Enterprise are custom. Verified on lumalabs.ai/pricing, Oct 3, 2026.
Is there a free plan?
Luma says you can try the platform free, but the pages JAVIS read do not state the credit amount or limits. Older guides list a daily-credit free plan on the legacy product; treat that as unverified for today.
What is Ray3.2?
Luma's current video model (June 2026): up to 16 keyframes, native HDR, 16-bit EXR export, up to 20 seconds at 1080p, face-performance tracking for up to 8 faces, plus an API.
Can I use Kling or Veo inside Luma?
Yes. The credit table lists Kling 3.0, Kling Omni, Kling 3.0 Turbo, Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.0/2.5, MiniMax H3 and others, each with per-second credit costs.
Is Luma worth it based on reviews?
Mixed to poor in public data: Trustpilot 1.5/5 from 65 reviews (84% one-star), iOS 4.51 from 1,793 ratings on an app last updated in April. Small samples.
Who funds Luma?
Press reports a $900M Series C at about $4B, led by HUMAIN, in November 2025. Luma's own Feb 11, 2026 release confirms a HUMAIN partnership and a Riyadh regional HQ.
Does Luma have an API?
Yes: Build (pay per use) and Scale (provisioned, SLA, no-train guarantee). Ray3.2 5-second clips are $0.15 to $1.20.
