Metricool Review 2026: A Generous-Looking Free Plan That Got Smaller, Paid Plans That Got Dearer, and an X Add-On That Doubled
Metricool is a social media scheduler, analytics and reporting tool from Madrid that covers Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Twitch, Google Business Profile and X, plus Meta, Google and TikTok ads. The Free plan still costs $0 for one brand, but since January 2026 it schedules 20 posts a month and keeps 30 days of analytics, down from 50 posts and 3 months in December 2025. Starter costs $20 a month billed yearly ($240 a year) for up to 5 brands, or $25 month to month, after a rise from $18 in March 2026. Connecting an X account costs another $10 a month per account since Jul 13, 2026, double the old $5. Refunds are limited to 15 days after a first purchase, and renewals are never refunded. Prices are in US dollars before VAT, as listed on Oct 27, 2026.

| Made by | Metricool Software SL, Madrid, Spain; part of the team.blue group since 2024 |
| What it is | A web app (plus iOS and Android apps) to plan, publish, analyse and report on social accounts and ads |
| Plans | Free $0; Starter from $20; Advanced from $53 a month billed yearly; Custom on request |
| Unit | A “brand”: one profile per network. Free 1, Starter 5 or 10, Advanced 15, 25 or 50 |
| Best for | Freelancers and small agencies running several client brands on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn |
A capable, fairly priced agency tool, but read the 2026 changes before you build a workflow on the Free plan.
“Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.”
That sentence from Metricool’s own help center, as read on Oct 27, 2026, is a fair summary of how to approach this product: it is generous and well documented, and the details still decide what you pay. Metricool puts scheduling, analytics, a shared inbox, link-in-bio pages, ad reporting, competitor tracking and PDF or PowerPoint reports under one login, and it prices by “brand” (one client or business, with one profile per network) rather than by user or by channel. For a freelancer with five clients, that is $20 a month billed yearly, which is cheap next to per-seat tools such as Sprout Social or Agorapulse (section 18).
Three changes in 2026 keep the score at 70. First, the Free plan shrank: Internet Archive copies of the pricing page show 50 scheduled posts and 3 months of analytics on Dec 14, 2025, and 20 posts and 30 days on Jan 15, 2026. Second, paid prices rose between Feb 9 and Mar 14, 2026: Starter for 5 brands went from $18 to $20 a month billed yearly, and Advanced for 15 brands from $45 to $53. Third, the X add-on, which every X account needs on the web plans, went from $5 to $10 a month on Jul 13, 2026, per Metricool’s help center. Accounts that already had it keep $5 unless they remove all of them.
The independent signal is thin and mixed. Metricool’s mobile app scores 2.6 out of 5 from 117 ratings on the US App Store and 3.5 from 1.99K reviews on Google Play (US), and recent reviews there complain about the app, not about the web product. G2 and Capterra ratings are not part of this review. On the money side, Metricool’s refund window is 15 calendar days after a first purchase; renewals, monthly or annual, are not refunded.
Brands, not seats: one login, one profile per network per brand, and add-ons on top.
Metricool’s unit is the brand. Its help center describes a brand as a container for one business or client that holds one profile per platform: one Instagram account, one Facebook Page, one TikTok account and so on. Plans differ mainly by how many brands you get (1 on Free, 5 or 10 on Starter, 15, 25 or 50 on Advanced, more on Custom) and by features such as LinkedIn, reports, team roles, approvals and the API. Two things are sold separately on top: the X add-on (one per X account) and the Advanced Analytics add-on (one per account, covering all brands).
The company is Metricool Software SL in Madrid. Its about page dates the product to a 2014 blog tool called Bloggerespacio, the Metricool name to 2015 and its entry into team.blue, a European group of online services for small businesses, to 2024. The Terms describe Metricool as a “tool aimed at professionals and companies”, and the privacy policy says Metricool “has a joint controllership with team.blue N.V.” for customer data (section 13).

A smaller Free plan in January, higher prices in March, a dearer X add-on in July, and new AI features in September.
Metricool posts monthly product updates, and the Internet Archive has kept its pricing page since at least 2022. Read together, they show a product that keeps adding features and a price list that has moved up, with the biggest moves in the first quarter of 2026.
| Date | What the record shows |
|---|---|
| Jan 30, 2023 | Plans were called PRO 5, PRO 10, TEAM 15, TEAM 25 and ENTERPRISE; PRO 5 was $12 a month billed yearly; Free scheduled 50 posts a month |
| Mar 5, 2024 | Starter from $18 and Advanced from $45 a month billed yearly; Free had 50 posts and 3 months of analytics |
| Sep 17, 2024 | Axon Partners Group publishes team.blue’s announcement of “a key investment in Metricool” |
| Dec 14, 2025 | Free still schedules 50 posts and keeps 3 months of analytics |
| Jan 15, 2026 | Free now schedules 20 posts and keeps 30 days; paid prices unchanged |
| Mar 14, 2026 | New prices: Starter from $20 and Advanced from $53 a month billed yearly (Feb 9, 2026 still showed $18 and $45) |
| Jul 13, 2026 | X add-on rises from $5 to $10 a month per X account for new add-ons |
| Aug 26, 2026 | Post library raised from 50 to 250 posts per brand; option to label posts as AI-generated |
| Sep 1, 2026 | Flows launched: keyword-triggered replies and DMs on Instagram and TikTok, free “for an initial period” |
| Sep 10, 2026 | Official Claude and ChatGPT connectors announced, available on the Free plan too |

A big user base by Metricool’s own count, though its pages give three different numbers.
There is no open, neutral survey of social media management tools that we could use, so the market picture rests on Metricool’s own figures, app store data and the 2024 investment announcement. Metricool’s pages disagree on its size: the about page says “More than 4 million professionals use Metricool”, the reviews page says “more than 3 million professionals, brands, and agencies”, and the newsroom says “over 2 million users”. None of these is a count of paying customers. The only revenue figure we found is from team.blue’s September 2024 announcement, which gave Metricool “a current ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) of €17m” at that time.
| Signal | Figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Metricool about page | 4 million+ | “professionals” using it, vendor claim |
| Metricool reviews page | 3 million+ | professionals, brands and agencies, vendor claim |
| Metricool newsroom | 2 million+ | users, vendor claim |
| team.blue, Sep 2024 | €17m ARR | annual recurring revenue at the time |
| Google Play (US) | 500K+ downloads | Android app installs, not accounts |
| US App Store | 117 ratings | iPhone app ratings, average 2.6 |

Open ratings exist only for the mobile app, and they are weak; people praise the web app and complain about the phone app.
The independent ratings we could open are the app store listings, which judge the mobile app rather than the web product most customers use. On the US App Store, Metricool scores 2.6 out of 5 from 117 ratings (version 3.24.7, released Oct 8, 2026). On Google Play in the US it shows 3.5 stars from 1.99K reviews and 500K+ downloads; the phone tab of the same listing shows 3.4 from 1.95K. These are small, self-selected samples. Large review platforms such as G2 and Capterra are not part of this review.
| Store (US) | Rating | Sample | Other data |
|---|---|---|---|
| App Store (iPhone, iPad) | 2.6 / 5 | 117 ratings | Free, in-app purchases; first released Jan 12, 2016 |
| Google Play | 3.5 / 5 | 1.99K reviews | 500K+ downloads; updated Oct 5, 2026 |
| Google Play, phone tab | 3.4 / 5 | 1.95K reviews | same listing, phone ratings only |

“They also removed seeing analytics up to 90 days in the past and made it 30 days in the past for the free tier.”
A long-time user reacting to the Free plan change; Metricool replied the next day and said it would share the feedback.
“in the past few months, this app has become essentially unusable.”
The reviewer lists repeated device checks at login, dropped connections and failed video uploads.
“The platform is a LIFESAVER when it comes to organizing content, scheduling things out, and I definitely believe it’s worth it.”
The same reviewer prefers the desktop version for the calendar and posting.
The pattern across the newest store reviews is consistent: the web app gets praise, the phone app gets complaints. A US App Store review dated Aug 28 on the listing (the developer replied on Sep 1) says “half the time when I need to post something from the app manually, I can’t do it because the app just doesn’t load.” That matters more than it sounds, because Instagram and TikTok posts set to manual publishing are finished in the phone app after a Metricool notification (section 10). Metricool’s own replies on both stores describe the app as a complement to the website.
Hacker News has almost nothing on Metricool: five stories in total, none with discussion. The most telling is a Mar 31, 2026 “Show HN” by the maker of another scheduling tool, who built a bulk CSV feature because they “got a client who was annoyed at Metricool’s CSV uploader”. That is one competitor’s anecdote, not evidence. Metricool’s reviews page quotes G2 reviewers and agency case studies; we treat those as vendor-selected.
Free, Starter, Advanced and Custom, priced by the number of brands, with yearly billing about 20% cheaper.
All prices below are in US dollars per month, before VAT, from metricool.com/pricing on Oct 27, 2026. The page shows euros or dollars; Metricool bills only in those two currencies. Each paid plan has brand tiers. Yearly billing is shown as a monthly price and, per the help center, includes the discount in the final price; the page advertises “save up to 24%”, which is the 50-brand tier, while most tiers save about 20%.

| Starter, 10 brands | $36 | $432 | $45 | $540 | $3.60 |

| Advanced, 50 brands | $159 | $1,908 | $210 | $2,520 | $3.18 |

Cheap per brand, until X accounts and analytics add-ons stack up.
Metricool’s base price per brand is low and falls as you add brands: $4.00 a month on Starter 5 and $3.18 on Advanced 50, billed yearly. The add-ons are where bills grow. Each X account costs $10 a month ($120 a year), and the Advanced Analytics add-on, which unlocks full Metricool Studio and campaign dashboards, starts at $12 a month on Starter and $36 on Advanced. Here is the arithmetic for three typical setups, before VAT.

| Setup | Plan | Add-ons | Per year, yearly billing | Per year, monthly billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creator, 1 brand, no X | Free | none | $0 | $0 |
| Creator who outgrows Free | Starter 5 | none | $240 | $300 |
| Freelancer, 4 clients, 2 on X | Starter 5 | 2 X add-ons | $480 | $540 |
| Agency, 12 clients, approvals, 5 on X, full Studio | Advanced 15 | 5 X add-ons, Advanced Analytics from $36 | $1,668 | $1,836 |
Three real-world setups

The yearly discount is real but modest: about 20% on most tiers. Remember that a yearly plan cannot be partly refunded after the first 15 days (section 14), so a freelancer who might lose clients mid-year should weigh the extra $60 a year that monthly Starter 5 costs against that risk.
Answer five questions.
Free is a real planner with tight caps; Starter is where Metricool becomes a working tool.
Metricool’s help center lists the Free plan limits plainly: one brand that you can rename but not delete, 20 posts a month in the planner, 30 days of analytics history with a watermark, five fixed competitors (Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky and Twitch) that you cannot change, five AI credits a month and one profile per network. Free leaves out LinkedIn, X, PDF and PPT downloads, custom reports, SmartLinks, the hashtag finder, the post library, Canva, Google Drive, Data Studio, Make and Zapier. The counter counts posts actually published, resets on the 1st of each month, and after a downgrade the posts you published that month on a paid plan still count.

History is worth understanding before you connect anything. When you connect an account, Metricool shows data from the previous 30 days; follower counts on X, TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky and personal LinkedIn profiles, YouTube subscribers and Instagram Stories are recorded only from the day of connection. Paid users can ask support to pull older history where the network allows; Free accounts cannot.

Six steps, and the two people skip.
Metricool’s own five-minute plan guide, from its official YouTube channel, walks through which plan fits which kind of user.

Small AI allowances, AI reports behind an add-on, and comment-to-DM automation that is free for now.
Metricool’s AI features generate text only, per its Terms: post copy, calls to action, hashtags and alt text. The AI assistant runs on monthly credits per brand: 5 on Free, 20 on Starter and 35 on Advanced, and the Terms define one credit as “around 600 words” of prompt plus answer. The help center says extra credits cannot be bought and that unused credits do not roll over. The AI alt text generator uses credits on Free and Starter and is unlimited on Advanced and Custom. On data use, the Terms say Metricool “does not require training rights on Customer inputs/outputs” and that its AI providers are contractually barred from training on customer content.
| AI and analysis feature | Free | Starter | Advanced |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI assistant credits, per brand a month | 5 | 20 | 35 |
| AI alt text | uses credits | uses credits | included |
| Recurring scheduling | no | no | included |
| Metricool Studio (AI reports) | no | 2 views, 10 versions each | 2 views, 10 versions each |
| Campaign dashboards | no | 3 per brand | 3 per brand |

Flows, launched on Sep 1, 2026, replies to comments, DMs and Story replies that contain a keyword and can send up to three messages with a link. It works on Instagram and TikTok; X Flows need the X add-on. Meta’s rules shape it: the first DM after a comment cannot contain links, and follow-ups must go within 24 hours of the user’s reply. TikTok DM-to-DM Flows are “available only in the United States”. Flows is not on Free or Starter Mobile 5, and the launch release says it “will later become a paid add-on within the Starter and Advanced plans.” Budget for that if Flows becomes central to your sales.

An official MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT, open to Free users, and an API for Advanced.
Metricool has two ways in for other software. The Metricool API is for exports and automation through Zapier, Make, Data Studio or your own code, and it is limited to Advanced and Custom. The Metricool MCP server lets an AI client such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Gemini CLI work with your Metricool data in plain language, and it works on every plan including Free. Metricool announced official Claude and ChatGPT connectors on Sep 10, 2026. Through MCP an assistant can list brands, query analytics (including connected ad accounts), view scheduled posts, check best times, and create or edit scheduled posts or send them for review. Per the MCP limits article, inbox messages, comments, SmartLinks, Google Business Profile reviews, autolists, Canva or Drive files and ads campaign management are not available through MCP, and Free limits still apply: “Free accounts cannot schedule more than 20 posts per month.” If you are new to MCP, our Claude MCP and connectors guide explains what an assistant can do once connected.

Outside MCP, the pricing page lists Zapier and Make (through the API on Advanced), Google Drive, Canva and Adobe Express, and website integrations for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and Google Tag Manager. For automation-heavy agencies, our Zapier and Make reviews cover what those tools cost on their side.
EU hosting and a DPA on request, two-factor login you must switch on, and data shared with the parent group.
Where data lives. Metricool’s privacy policy, updated Jun 26, 2026, says: “METRICOOL SOFTWARE stores all data on servers within the European Union.” It also says Metricool is part of the team.blue group and shares joint controllership with team.blue N.V., and that customer contact, user, billing and purchase data “may be shared with team.blue N.V for marketing statistics”, internal administration and reporting. For the social data you manage, Metricool acts as a data processor and offers a GDPR data processing agreement by email request; its Terms commit it to notify customers of personal data breaches within 72 hours.
Account security. Two-factor authentication exists but “By default it is disabled, so you must activate it manually”. It works with an authenticator app, not SMS, and Metricool provides no backup codes: if you lose the phone, support disables 2FA after checking that you own the account email. Agencies should switch it on for every login that can publish to client accounts.
What happens when you leave. Cancelling moves you to Free at the end of the period; Metricool keeps the oldest brand and hides the others. Deleting the account, per the Terms, “will permanently delete their Metricool account and all analytical data from all Brands”. Download any reports you need first.
| Question | Answer from Metricool’s pages |
|---|---|
| Where is data stored? | Servers in the European Union, per the privacy policy |
| Who else gets customer data? | team.blue N.V. (joint controller) for statistics, administration and reporting |
| Is 2FA on by default? | No; authenticator app only, no backup codes |
| Is AI trained on my posts? | Terms: no training rights required; providers bound not to train on customer content |
| DPA available? | Yes, PDF or signed copy by email request |
| What does MCP get? | The permission screen covers broader access than the MCP tools use, per Metricool |

A 15-day window, no refunds on renewals, a 600-post check, and a contract for professionals under Spanish law.
The rules below come from Metricool’s Terms and Conditions (updated Apr 1, 2026), its pricing FAQ and its help center, as read on Oct 27, 2026.
| Topic | What Metricool says |
|---|---|
| Refund window | Withdrawal within “the first 15 calendar days after your first purchase of a Metricool paid plan” (Terms section 19); also applies to a first add-on purchase. |
| Renewals | “These renewals are not refundable”. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically on the same date. |
| Mid-year exit | “After the 15-day withdrawal period, annual cycles do not allow partial refunds.” |
| Annual to monthly | Only at the end of the yearly term, and only by asking support. |
| Price rises | Notice “at least 15 days prior to the renewal date”; the renewal goes ahead unless you object. |
| Free plan changes | Metricool “reserves the right to modify the functionalities of the Free Plan at any time.” |
| Fair use | Above 600 posts per brand a month, Metricool checks manually; during the check you cannot post. |
| Account deletion | Does not cancel the subscription; it deletes all analytics data. |
| Who it is for, and law | Terms: “Metricool is addressed to companies and/or professionals”; Spanish law, Madrid courts, with consumers keeping their home courts. |

Seven things to weigh before you pay.
- Free plan with no card and no end date
- Low price per brand: $3.18 to $4.00 a month billed yearly
- Scheduling, analytics, inbox, reports and ads in one tool
- MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT on every plan
- EU data storage and a DPA on request
- Detailed, dated help center and monthly product updates
- Free cut to 20 posts and 30 days in January 2026

- Prices move. Yearly-billed prices rose 11% for Starter 5 and 18% for Advanced 15 in March 2026; Starter 5 has gone from $12 (PRO 5, January 2023) to $20 a month billed yearly.
- X is extra on the web. $120 a year per X account for new add-ons since Jul 13, 2026.

Buffer, Later, Hootsuite, Agorapulse and Sprout Social, priced on the same day.
All prices are from each vendor’s own pricing page on Oct 27, 2026, in US dollars before tax, billed yearly unless noted. The units differ, so the plans are not like-for-like: Metricool charges per brand, Buffer per channel, Later per “social set” of one profile per network, and Hootsuite, Agorapulse and Sprout Social per user or seat.
Swipe sideways to see the whole table.
| Need | Tool and plan | Price | Unit | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Many brands, one person | Metricool Starter 5 | $20 a month | 5 brands | $240 |
| Pay only per channel, X included | Buffer Essentials | $5 a month | 1 channel | $60 per channel |
| Instagram-first single brand | Later Starter | $18.75 a month | 1 social set, 30 posts per profile | $225 |
| Per-user suite with listening | Hootsuite Standard | $99 a month | 1 user, 10 accounts | $1,188 |
| Inbox-heavy teams | Agorapulse Standard | $79 a month | 1 user, 10 profiles | $948 |
| Enterprise-style reporting | Sprout Social Standard | $199 a month | 1 seat, 5 profiles | $2,388 |
For a freelancer with four clients on three networks each (12 channels), Buffer Essentials is $720 a year, Metricool Starter 5 is $240 (plus $120 for each X account), and a single Agorapulse Standard seat is $948 but caps at 10 profiles. Buffer’s per-channel model wins when you run few channels or rely on X; Metricool wins on brand count, analytics and reports; the per-seat suites win when several people need listening, a shared inbox and enterprise reporting. If short videos are your main output, our OpusClip review covers the step before scheduling, and our Canva AI review covers the design tool Metricool connects to.

Yes. Metricool’s MCP connector works on every plan, including Free, and Metricool announced official Claude and ChatGPT connectors on Sep 10, 2026. It covers brands, analytics and scheduling, not the inbox or ads management.
Who owns Metricool?
Metricool Software SL in Madrid, which Metricool’s about page says joined team.blue in 2024. team.blue’s September 2024 announcement described it as “a key investment in Metricool” alongside the founders and Axon Partners Group.
Is Metricool better than Buffer?
It depends on your unit. With many brands and networks, Metricool’s brand pricing ($20 a month billed yearly for 5 brands) is usually cheaper and includes more analytics; with a few channels, or heavy X use, Buffer’s $5 a month per channel can cost less.

JAVIS Fit Score (70/100): an editorial composite scored out of 20 on five criteria. Price clarity 14: USD prices, brand tiers and add-ons are all on one page and the help center explains billing in detail, but prices rose in March 2026, the X add-on doubled and the Free plan shrank. Capability 16: scheduling, analytics, inbox, reports, ads, competitor tracking, Flows and an MCP connector, with approvals and the API reserved for Advanced. Independent evidence 11: only app store ratings (2.6 from 117 and 3.5 from 1.99K) are open, they judge the mobile app, and Hacker News is nearly silent. Terms, data and security 13: EU storage, a DPA, 72-hour breach notice and no AI training rights, against 2FA off by default without backup codes, data sharing with team.blue, no refunds on renewals and a right to change the Free plan at any time. Cost and fit 16: about $3 to $4 per brand per month billed yearly is strong value for multi-brand users, less so for X-heavy or phone-first users. It is judgment, not a measurement.
What this review does not cover: data accuracy, publishing reliability, support response times, the Starter Mobile 5 price in each app store, the Custom plan price, the checkout and VAT for your country, and how Flows will be priced once its free period ends.
