Kling AI Review 2026: The AI Video Leader on Revenue, With a 1.2/5 Billing Record and a Kling 4.0 Still Rolling Out
Kling went from a June 2024 beta to a business Kuaishou says earned more than RMB 850 million in the second quarter of 2026 alone, and in July it filed a roughly RMB 19 billion financing at an $18 billion post-money valuation, with Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu named among the investors. The product kept pace: Video 3.0 with native audio and multi-shot, Native 4K, Motion Control, a Canvas agent, team seats, an MCP/CLI path and, on September 28, Kling 4.0. But 4.0 is only partly out -- Flash is limited early access, the full model is promised for October, 10-bit HDR is "coming soon" -- and the people who pay for Kling are split: 4.68 stars across 31,494 iOS ratings, 1.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 402 reviews. This review is built on the official plans page, the release notes, API prices and public sources, and says plainly where it stopped.
| Owner | Kuaishou; subsidiary round filed Jul 2, 2026 |
| Free tier | Yes -- Basic, limits not itemised |
| Cheapest paid plan | $6.60/mo yearly ($8.80 monthly after intro) |
| Q2 2026 revenue | RMB 850M+, up 200%+ YoY |
| Trustpilot | 1.2/5, 402 reviews |
Kling is the AI video product with the strongest verified money story and the loudest billing complaints -- and its next model is only half out the door.
"What made me re-check everything in this review was the gap between two sets of numbers. On one side: Kuaishou says Kling made over RMB 850 million in Q2 2026, up more than 200% year on year, and Kling raised roughly RMB 19 billion at an $18 billion post-money valuation in July. On the other: Trustpilot shows 1.2 out of 5 across 402 reviews, 90% of them one-star, almost all about credits, billing and cancellation. Both are real. The product clearly works well enough for a lot of people to pay for it -- the iOS app sits at 4.68 from 31,494 ratings -- but the people who get burned feel it hard. And as of today the headline model, Kling 4.0, is only partly available: Kling 4.0 Flash went to a limited group on September 28, and the full model is promised for October."
So my read is conditional. If you make short cinematic clips, want native audio, multi-shot control and a real API with public per-second prices, Kling is one of the most complete options on the market. If you want predictable spending, treat the credit system with respect: subscription credits expire at the end of each cycle, intro prices step up, and a failed or off-prompt generation is a recurring complaint pattern. JAVIS did not run a controlled hands-on test of Kling for this article; this is a VERIFIED EDITORIAL REVIEW built on official pages, filings reported by credible outlets and public user evidence.
One studio for video, images, motion control and agents -- owned by Kuaishou, run as a fast-moving model family.
Kling AI is Kuaishou's generative video and image platform, launched in June 2024 as a beta. The consumer product is a web, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows studio. The model family today is: Video 3.0 and Video 3.0 Omni (native audio, multi-shot storyboards, element references), Kling 3.0 Turbo (June 17, 2026), Native 4K output (April 23, 2026), Motion Control (March 4, 2026), Image 3.0 / 3.0 Omni, and the new Kling 4.0 line announced September 28, 2026. Around the models sit a Canvas workspace with an Agent, team seats with permissions (March 16, 2026), a developer API and an MCP/CLI path so other agents can call Kling.

One naming quirk worth knowing: the old domain klingai.com now 301-redirects to kling.ai, while the app and some billing pages still use klingai.com subdomains. If you saw both names, it is the same company.
Revenue and funding say leader; the preference leaderboard says contender.
Kuaishou's Q2 2026 results: Kling revenue over RMB 850 million, up more than 200% year on year (reported Aug 2026; TechNode and others). Quarterly revenue, not ARR.
About $150M, per Caixin (Mar 25, 2026) -- roughly 0.7% of Kuaishou group revenue. Also 60M+ users and 600M+ videos by end-2025 (same report).
Filed with HKEX Jul 2, 2026 (~RMB 19B, up to ~$3B); post-money $18B per press; Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu listed. Press says IPO process within 12 months.
31,494 ratings, "Kling AI: AI Image&Video Maker" (iTunes lookup, Oct 3, 2026). An app rating is not a market share.

App-store fans and Trustpilot critics are describing the same product at different moments.
"I would give zero stars if possible...they continue to try to charge my card." Cancellation and post-cancellation charges are the most repeated complaint cluster.
"I wasted over forty bucks and when they took 3000 credits...I was basically told sorry." Failed or off-prompt generations that still consume credits recur across reviews.
Rating 4.68 across 31,494 ratings for the Kling iOS app (version 3.8.20, updated Sep 11, 2026). App ratings skew to satisfied day-to-day users and prompt in-app; billing disputes more often land on Trustpilot.

Credit burn per clip varies by model, resolution, audio and mode and is shown in-app; I did not verify a per-clip credit table from an official page, so I do not quote one. For developers, see the API section for official per-second prices.
Match your volume and tolerance for credit math to a tier.
Start on Basic (free) and judge motion and native audio on two or three real prompts. Do not judge 4.0 yet -- it is not broadly out.
Standard -- $6.60/mo billed yearly or $8.80 monthly after the intro. Check the in-app credit cost per clip before assuming how far 660 credits go.
Pro or Premier. Higher tiers lower the per-credit price, but only help if you use the credits before the cycle ends.
Ultra (yearly gets Kling 4.0 Flash early access). 4K is also on the API at $0.42/s for Kling 3.0.
Use the API prepaid packs ($0.14 per unit) and read the plan-limit note: the packs do not support Kling 4.0 yet.
Use a card with limits, set a calendar reminder before renewal and test cancellation early. That is the single most common Trustpilot complaint.
Native audio, multi-shot storyboards and element references are shipped; 30-second 4K HDR is still a promise.
Video 3.0 merged what used to be separate Kling lines: Kling's own comparison shows 2.6 without multi-shot, multi-character coreference, multilingual speech or 15-second output, and 3.0 with all of them. The headline ideas are Multi-Shot (the model reads shot coverage from your prompt -- shot/reverse-shot dialogue, cross-cutting, voice-over), element references (lock a character or object from images or video), native audio with five languages plus dialects, and up to 15-second clips. Motion Control (March 4, 2026) copies movement and facial expression from a reference performance, and Native 4K arrived April 23.
Kling 4.0 is the new headline. Per the official release note dated September 28, 2026, it supports 3-30 second generation, up to 10 keyframes, up to 15 mixed references (10 images, 5 videos, 7 subjects in total), 720p/1080p/4K, 21:9, stereo audio and text rendering in several scripts. But the same note says the full launch is in October and that 10-bit HDR at 1080p and 4K is "coming soon". Kling 4.0 Flash (3-20 second, faster) is early access for a limited group -- Ultra yearly subscribers per Kling's own plan grid and press coverage.

| Capability | Video 2.6 | Video 3.0 | Kling 4.0 (per Sep 28 note) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-shot / storyboard | No | Yes | Yes, plus up to 10 keyframes |
| Max duration | Shorter (3.0 adds 15s per the guide) | Up to 15s | 3-30s (Flash: 3-20s) |
| Native audio | Yes | Yes, 5 languages + dialects | Stereo; more languages and accents |
| Resolution | Not stated in the guide | Up to native 4K | 720p/1080p/4K; 10-bit HDR "coming soon" |
| Availability today | Live | Live | Flash: limited early access; full: "October" |
- Multi-shot, element references, native audio and Motion Control are documented in Kling's own user guide and dated release history.
- Kling publishes a Kling 4.0 spec table with explicit limits, including what is not live yet.
- The "world's first native 4K" wording is Kling's claim.
- JAVIS has not benchmarked 4.0; no independent tests of the full model exist as it has not shipped. Third-party reviews of 3.0 report weaker hands, lip-sync drift and colour shifts between cuts.
From idea to a usable clip: where the credits actually go.

The review-to-regenerate step is where Trustpilot's complaints live: people describe prompts that were not followed and credits that vanished on the retry. Budget for iteration, not for final seconds.
Kling is trying to be a workspace, not just a clip box.
Kling Canvas Agent launched January 29, 2026: brainstorm, write scripts, then generate storyboards, images and video in one project with multi-round editing and batch generation. On the homepage Kling lists dedicated agent "Skills" for storyboards, posters and e-commerce assets. Team features followed on March 16, 2026 with one-click asset sharing and role permissions, plus a desktop app. The Team plan is $79 per seat monthly or $59 per seat on yearly billing, with 10,000 credits per seat. Reviewers I found still describe the editing and shot-organisation side as weaker than the generator itself, which matches Kling's own shift toward Canvas.
- Shared credits and permissions answer the "who spent the budget" problem agencies hit.
- Agent-driven batch generation reduces repetitive prompting.
- Team plan is web only per its own footer.
- Agent and Skills quality is shown through marketing posters; JAVIS did not test them.
Kling now advertises MCP and CLI so your own agent can drive it.
The homepage has an "MCP / CLI" block -- "Let Your Agent Power Kling, Turn Ideas into Videos at Scale" -- with three demonstrations: efficient batch generation, multi-task production, and analyse-then-generate from links. JAVIS could not open a technical MCP page, so I can confirm the feature is advertised and not its tool list, auth model or pricing. Separately, the developer documentation and an "Agent Market" tab live on the API site, and aggregators including Luma and Pika resell Kling 3.0 inside their own plans.

| Surface | What is verified | What is not |
|---|---|---|
| MCP / CLI | Advertised with three demos on kling.ai (Oct 3, 2026) | Tool list, auth, rate limits, pricing |
| REST API | Official per-second pricing and prepaid packs; 20 concurrency | Kling 4.0 support (packs "currently don't support Kling 4.0") |
| Third-party hosts | Luma lists Kling 3.0/Omni/3.0 Turbo; Pika API Club lists Kling 3.0 | Feature parity with Kling's own app |
Official per-second prices exist and are unusually clear.
Kling's API is sold as prepaid packages: $700 for 5,000 units up to $7,560 for 60,000 units (the three larger packs carry 10% off), each valid 180 days with no rollover or extension and 20 concurrency. One unit is $0.14 at list. Per-second prices on the live page:
| Model / mode | 720p | 1080p | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kling 3.0 Turbo, native audio | $0.112/s | $0.14/s | -- |
| Kling 3.0, no native audio | $0.084/s | $0.112/s | $0.42/s |
| Kling 3.0, native audio, no voice control | $0.126/s | $0.168/s | $0.42/s |
| Kling 3.0 Omni, no video input, native audio | $0.112/s | $0.14/s | $0.42/s |
| Motion Control | $0.126/s | $0.168/s | -- |
| Avatar | $0.056/s | $0.112/s | -- |
Content rules, impersonation risk and fake-site malware are the practical risks.
| Area | What is documented | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Content moderation | Operates under strict content rules aligned with Chinese regulation; prompts about politics, protests or government criticism are blocked | Wikipedia (Kling AI), secondary |
| Phishing / fake sites | In May 2025 a campaign used fake Kling AI sites and ads to spread infostealer malware -- always start from kling.ai | Wikipedia (Kling AI), secondary |
| Team controls | Role permissions, one-click asset sharing, shared credits (Mar 16, 2026) | kling.ai release history |
| Policies | Terms of Use and Privacy Policy linked in the kling.ai footer; Kling lists an invoice and commercial-use FAQ | kling.ai/docs |
| Compliance certifications | Not found -- JAVIS could not verify SOC 2 or ISO status for Kling | Gap |
Best for short-form cinematic and ad creators who iterate deliberately.
| Work pattern | Why Kling fits | Likely plan |
|---|---|---|
| Solo short-form / social creator | Motion, native audio and a low entry price | Standard, then Pro |
| Ad or music-video studio | Multi-shot, element consistency, 4K; Kling cites Cannes Lions 2026 recognition for work using it | Premier or Ultra |
| Agency with several editors | Team seats, shared credits and roles | Team plan |
| Developer building a product on video | Public per-second API pricing | API packs |
| Corporate trainer needing a talking presenter | Possible via Avatar, but avatar-first tools fit better | Look at HeyGen or Synthesia first |
| Anyone who needs predictable monthly cost | Credits expire and retries cost money | Be cautious |

Five real gaps.
Trustpilot (402 reviews, 90% one-star) is full of unexpected charges, difficulty cancelling and slow support. Intro prices ($6.99, $25.99...) step up at renewal.
Subscription credits reset each cycle and failed or off-prompt generations are reported to still consume credits; both patterns are the most repeated user criticism.
Kling 4.0 is "coming in October"; Flash is limited-access and 10-bit HDR is "coming soon". API packs do not support it yet. Do not buy a plan for 4.0 alone.
Artificial Analysis (Aug 2026) has Kling 3.0 Omni at #15 behind Wan 3.0, Seedance 2.5, Gemini Omni Flash and others. It leads on revenue, not on that preference vote.
Regulation-aligned content blocks, a malware campaign using fake Kling sites in 2025, and no verified SOC 2/ISO listing found.
Choose by what you are optimising.
| If you mostly need... | Compare Kling with... |
|---|---|
| A professional editor suite around generative video | Runway (JAVIS review) -- different workflow emphasis; read its pricing before comparing credits |
| Pro HDR/EXR output and an agent layer | Luma (JAVIS review) -- Ray3.2 plus resold Kling, Seedance and Veo models |
| One subscription that reaches many models, with open-priced packs | Pika (JAVIS review) -- its Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 credit costs are public |
| A talking avatar presenter rather than cinematic clips | HeyGen or Synthesia |
| Voice, music or sound design to pair with video | ElevenLabs |
| OpenAI Sora | Not an option: OpenAI said on Mar 24, 2026 it was shutting Sora down; web/app ended Apr 26 and the API was due to end Sep 24, 2026 (multiple outlets) |
| Vendor | Entry price (verified on its own pricing page, Oct 3, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Kling Standard | $10 list; $8.80 monthly after intro; $79.20/yr ($6.60/mo) -- 660 credits |
| Luma Plus | $30/mo or $25/mo billed yearly -- 10,000 credits |
| Pika Starter | $10/mo or $8/mo yearly -- 900 credits |
| Credit units | Not comparable across vendors; compare cost per usable clip instead |
