Pika Review 2026: The Multi-Model "New Pika" With the Most Honest Pricing Page in AI Video -- and Reviews That Say Be Careful
On September 17, 2026 Pika stopped being mainly the maker of the Pika 2.x video model and relaunched as a platform: 25+ apps for video, image and sound, with Seedance, GPT Image, MiniMax H3, Wan and its own models underneath. Its pricing page is unusually frank -- a 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip costs 122 credits, Wan 3.0 33, plans are Free (packs only), Starter $10, Creator $35 and Fancy $95 and up -- and it also says plan credits do not roll over and payments are non-refundable. Public sentiment is thin and harsh: 1.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot across 72 reviews, though many predate the relaunch, against 4.73 from 4,160 iOS ratings. This review is built on Pika's own pages and public sources, and says where it stopped.
| Product status | Relaunched Sep 17, 2026 as multi-model platform |
| Free plan | Yes -- but 0 monthly credits |
| Cheapest paid plan | $8/mo yearly ($10 monthly) |
| Commercial license | From Creator, $35/mo |
| Trustpilot | 1.8/5, 72 reviews |
The Pika most people remember -- the Pikaffects app with its own video model -- was replaced on September 17, 2026 by a multi-model creative platform, and the honest pricing page is its best feature.
"What struck me is how openly Pika now describes itself as a layer over other companies' models. The launch post says the apps use 'Seedance, GPT Image, MiniMax H3, Pika's own models, and more', and that models are 'named when you want them and invisible when you don't'. The pricing page then does something few competitors do: it prints exactly what a generation costs -- 122 credits for a 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip, 33 for Wan 3.0, 8 for a Nano Banana 2 image -- and what each plan buys in clips. It also says plainly that payments are non-refundable and plan credits do not roll over. On the other side of the ledger: 1.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 72 reviews, mostly about failed generations, credits and cancellation."
So my read: Pika is now a reasonable, transparent shop for creators who want several models, apps like Relight, Camera Director and Product Shot, and short clips with sound -- and a poor fit if you were looking for the old standalone Pika 2.x experience, or you need commercial rights on a small budget (the license starts at Creator, $35 a month). JAVIS did not run a controlled hands-on test; this is a VERIFIED EDITORIAL REVIEW built on Pika's own pages and public evidence.
Twenty-five-plus apps on top, many models underneath, an API Club to the side.
"The new Pika" (announced September 17, 2026) brings video, image and sound creation into one place, with "the world's leading gen media models underneath and focused creative apps on top". It launched with 25+ apps: Video Studio, Color Grade, Extend Video, Pika Soundtrack, Edit Image, Character Studio, Image Studio, Product Shot, Relight Media, Camera Director, speech and more. The homepage model strip lists Seedance 2.5, Pika 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5, Pika Audio, Gemini 1.1 Omni Flash, Nano Banana 2 and MiniMax H3. Separately, Pika API Club (August 5, 2026) sells API access to 100+ models for $10 a month, and Pika has an MCP route for agents. The old interface remains at old.pika.art "for a few more weeks" per the launch post.

A well-known consumer brand with thin, dated company numbers.
The Decoder, Jun 5, 2024: $80M at a $470M valuation. Aggregators list ~$135M total raised; JAVIS found no newer verified round.
"Pika - AI Video" by Mellis, Inc.: 4,160 ratings, version 1.12.1, updated Jul 15, 2026 (iTunes lookup, Oct 3, 2026).
100+ models; Pika claims prices up to 88% below other aggregators (vendor claim).
Third-party revenue projections exist and were not used; Pika publishes no ARR or user count that JAVIS could verify.

The small public record is mostly negative, with one genuine praise pattern: support refunds.
"I subscribed to the Pro plan because it said I would get 500 credits per week. I only generated around 7 or 8 prompts before I suddenly ran out of credits." Note: the plan names and credit structure in that review predate the new pricing.
"They took 2 x $134 AUD amounts out of my acc and then when i tried to contact them they ignored me." Duplicate charges and unresponsive support recur.
"Great support! I subscribed to the yearly Pro plan...I contacted the support team and asked for a refund. They were very understanding and issued a full refund without any hassle." The one recurring positive pattern.
One page that lists every plan, every credit pack and what a generation costs.

| Same clip bought with a top-up pack (60 credits per $1) | 122 | $2.03 | $2.03 | $2.03 |
Rights and volume decide the tier; the model mix is the same everywhere.
Open a Free account to see the apps; to generate you need credits (packs only), so budget at least the $25 pack.
Starter, $8-10 a month: about 7 Seedance 2.5 clips or 27 Wan 3.0 clips -- but no commercial license.
Creator ($35, $28 yearly) is the first tier with a commercial license.
Fancy: unlimited parallel generations and a priority queue; early access to new models starts at $440/mo.
Look at the API Club: $10/mo plus usage, 100+ models, one API. Note that top-up credits from the Pika Create app cannot be used with the API.
Start monthly, not yearly, and cancel before renewal; Pika's FAQ says there is no refund for the rest of a period.
Attach up to 50 references, @mention them, ask for up to 30 seconds with sound.
Video Studio is the flagship app: you "attach up to 50 characters, products, settings, and styles, and @mention them in the prompt", then generate "a short clip to a 30-second multi-shot masterpiece -- sound included". The page UI text shows an input panel with references (up to 30 images, 10 videos or 10 audio files), keyframes, duration, resolution, audio on/off, aspect ratio and a model picker, with Seedance 2.5 "Recommended" for "up to 30s with native audio and 30 references" -- 243 credits for 10 seconds at 720p. Around it sit apps with narrower jobs: Relight Media rebuilds light and shadow, Product Shot turns a phone photo into campaign imagery, Camera Director reshoots a scene from new angles, Color Grade, Extend Video, Character Studio and Pika Soundtrack. The apps pick the model automatically unless you choose.

| Pika model line | What it is | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Pika 2.5 | Pika's own video model, still listed on the homepage | Pika Create, API Club |
| Seedance 2.5 | ByteDance video model, Pika's recommended Video Studio model; "half the price of other creation platforms" is Pika's claim | Pika Create, API Club |
| Wan 3.0 | The cheaper of the two video models in the credit table (33 credits per 5s 720p) | Pika Create, API Club |
| Pika Audio (Soundtrack, Music, SFX, Speech) | Own audio models, Aug 2026; "available now, exclusively through the Pika API Club" per the Aug 14 post | API Club |
| PikaStream1.0 | Real-time video for agents, beta, 480p | Experimental |
- The credit table lets you compute cost per clip before paying -- rare in this category.
- Every plan includes every model and app; plans differ by credits, concurrency and licensing.
- JAVIS did not generate footage in Video Studio; output quality is unverified here.
- The Aug 14 post says audio models are exclusive to the API Club while the Pika homepage lists Pika Soundtrack as an app; confirm where you can use them.
Pick an app for the job, spend credits once per attempt.

The cheap trick implied by the pricing table: use Wan 3.0 (33 credits) to test composition and Seedance 2.5 (122) for the keeper. That is my reading of the credit table, not a Pika recommendation.
The side bets that explain why Pika no longer looks like a single-model video company.
Earlier in 2026 Pika's story was agents: "AI Selves" -- persistent agent personas that join chats and, per an April 10 post, can earn tokens redeemable for cash when others use them. On April 2, PikaStream1.0 added real-time face-to-face video for any agent (24 FPS, 480p, about 1.5 seconds speech-to-video latency on a single H100, beta); per the post you can invite an AI Self to a Google Meet. In May Pika opened Pika Experiments, a public workshop on GitHub, whose first release is a generative-UI agent that needs the Pika MCP. None of this is the core review subject -- but it shows a company that changed direction twice in six months, which matters if you build a workflow on a specific Pika feature.
- Real-time agent video and an MCP route make Pika relevant to agent builders, not just clip makers.
- Public experiments make direction changes visible rather than hidden.
- PikaStream is beta at 480p and not a replacement for offline generation.
- Features announced in spring (AI Selves, earnings) are not part of the new Pika launch post; JAVIS could not confirm their current status.
API Club is the developer story: one key, 100+ models, $10 a month.
The Pika API Club (August 5, 2026) gives builders access to "100+ leading video, image, audio, and LLM models through one API" for a $10 monthly membership, with a $10 credit toward first-month usage, and describes the API as "agent-native" -- setup instructions to paste into ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Cursor or Lovable. The homepage lists Seedance 2.5, Gemini Omni Flash, Kling 3.0 4K, Kling 3.0 Motion Control, Veo 3.1 Standard, Grok Imagine Video, Pika 2.5, FLUX 3 Video, Happy Horse 1.1 and MiniMax H3 among video models. Pika also publishes an MCP route (pika.me/mcp) and a "Pika MCP has all the models" video.

| Surface | What is verified | What is not |
|---|---|---|
| API Club | $10/mo, 100+ models, $10 first-month credit, per-model prices on dev.pika.art | Latency, reliability, rate limits |
| MCP | pika.me/mcp is referenced in Pika's own Experiments post; an official video exists | Tool list, auth model, pricing |
| Top-up credits | Pika Create only -- not API, MCP, iOS app or old.pika.art (pricing page) | Conversion between systems |
Pika's own comparison is honest enough to show where it is not cheapest.
On dev.pika.art Pika publishes a price comparison against Fal.ai and Runway API, "recorded as of 10.1.26, includes 5% platform fee". These are Pika's vendor-selected examples, not a neutral benchmark:
| Model / unit | Pika | Fal.ai | Runway API |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.0 R2V 480p video input, per second | ~$0.0903 | $0.084 | $0.36 |
| MiniMax H3 T2V 2K, per second | $0.13 | $0.26 | $0.15 |
| Seedream 5.0 Pro T2I 2K, per image | $0.09 | $0.135 | $0.09 |
| Nano Banana Pro T2I 1K, per image | ~$0.134 | $0.15 | $0.20 |
| ElevenLabs Voice Changer, per minute | $0.126 | $0.30 | $0.20 |
| ElevenLabs TTS v2, per 1k characters | $0.105 | $0.10 | $0.20 |

Licensing is clear; certifications and data handling are not documented on pages read.
| Area | What is documented | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial rights | Commercial license included on Creator, Fancy and Enterprise; not on Free or Starter | pika.art/pricing |
| Watermark | No watermark on any plan, including Free | pika.art/pricing |
| Refunds and renewal | Cancel any time; plan stays active to period end; payments are non-refundable | pika.art/pricing FAQ |
| Credit expiry | Plan credits do not roll over; top-ups expire 365 days after purchase | pika.art/pricing FAQ |
| Enterprise | Dedicated support, custom credits, early access; enterprise API at dev.pika.art/enterprise | pika.art/pricing |
| Compliance certifications | Not found -- SOC 2 / ISO status could not be verified | Gap |
| Routing to third-party models | Many generations run on partner models (Seedance, MiniMax, etc.); data-handling terms for those routes were not reviewed | JAVIS note |
Best for short-form creators and small brands who like a transparent credit table.
| Work pattern | Why Pika fits | Likely plan |
|---|---|---|
| Social creator making a few clips | Cheap Wan 3.0 and visible per-clip costs | Starter |
| Small brand making product shots and ads | Product Shot, Relight, Camera Director, commercial license | Creator |
| Studio running parallel jobs | Unlimited parallel generations, priority queue | Fancy or Enterprise |
| Developer wanting one key for many models | API Club, agent-native setup | API Club |
| Someone who loved the old Pika 2.x workflow | The interface changed Sep 17; old.pika.art is temporary | Check before paying |
| A buyer who needs refunds or guaranteed unlimited use | Payments are non-refundable; credits do not roll over | Be cautious |

Five real gaps.
The September 17 relaunch swapped the interface and the plan structure; many reviews and guides describe the old one, and the old UI is only up for "a few more weeks".
The Free plan has 0 monthly credits ("packs only"); you cannot create without buying credits.
Plan credits expire each period and payments are non-refundable; Trustpilot (1.8/5, 72 reviews, 83% one-star) complains about vanished credits and cancellation.
Starter has no commercial license, so a $10 plan is for personal use only.
Pika now sells Seedance, Wan, MiniMax and others; its own Pika 2.5 is one option among many, no benchmark leadership claim is verified, and the company has pivoted twice in 2026 (agents, then platform).
Choose by what you are optimising.

No for plan credits; yes for top-up packs, which expire 365 days after purchase. Payments are non-refundable.
Is Pika worth it based on reviews?
Public evidence is thin and mixed: Trustpilot 1.8/5 from 72 reviews (83% one-star), iOS 4.73 from 4,160 ratings. Many reviews predate the Sept 17 relaunch.
What is the Pika API Club?
A $10/month membership giving one-API access to 100+ models, launched Aug 5, 2026, with Pika claiming prices up to 88% below other aggregators. Its own comparison table shows Pika slightly dearer than Fal.ai on some models.
