Gamma Review 2026: Fast First Drafts, a Credit Meter and Some Very Unhappy Trustpilot Reviewers
Gamma is an AI tool that turns a prompt or a file into presentations, documents, websites, social posts and graphics, with an Agent to edit them, an API for automation and native connectors for Claude and ChatGPT. It says 100 million people have made 625 million gammas, raised $68 million at a $2.1 billion valuation in November 2025, and moved from unlimited AI to credits that September. Plans run from free to $90 a seat per month billed yearly. This review checks that against Gamma’s own pages and sets it beside Trustpilot, the App Store and Hacker News.
| Free tier | Yes — 400 starter credits |
| Cheapest paid plan | From $9/seat/mo (billed yearly) |
| AI | Agent, Imagine, API, Claude connector |
| App Store | 4.8/5 (1.1K) |
| Trustpilot | 1.6/5 (126 reviews) |
Gamma is the fastest route from a messy idea to a good-looking deck, doc or site — if you accept credits, a recognizable house style and some very unhappy Trustpilot reviewers.
“Gamma is no longer the ‘AI PowerPoint’ it was in 2023. It now makes decks, documents, websites, social posts and graphics, has an Agent that edits what it made, an API for automation, and native connectors for Claude and ChatGPT. It also changed its pricing from unlimited AI to credits in September 2025, and the independent reviews are among the harshest I have read for a product with 100 million claimed users.”
This is a VERIFIED EDITORIAL REVIEW: Gamma’s pricing page, product pages, blog, developer docs, YouTube channel and trust claims, plus Trustpilot, the App Store and Hacker News, all read on October 3, 2026. I did not make a deck in Gamma for this article, so I make no claims about output quality or speed beyond what Gamma and its reviewers say.
If you need a decent first draft of a deck, one-pager or small site in minutes, Gamma is built for that and the free tier is real. If you need pixel control, strict PowerPoint fidelity or unlimited AI, read the limitations first. If you automate content, the API and connectors are the strongest part, and they run on credits.
One prompt or file in; a deck, doc, site, social post or graphic out; an Agent to rework it.
Gamma describes itself as a way to make “presentations, websites, and more” from an idea, an outline or an imported file. The product pages list Presentations, Documents, Websites, Social Media, Graphics and an API. Inside the editor you get smart layouts and diagrams, a Gamma Agent (a chat assistant that researches and rewrites), Gamma Imagine (an AI design canvas for images and graphics), image generation from 20+ AI models, themes, analytics, and exports to PowerPoint, PDF, PNG and Google Slides.
The line to remember is the last one. Since September 2025 Gamma has had a flat seat price and a monthly credit pot; credits are spent on AI actions, and the number used depends on the model and the length or complexity of the job.
A small, profitable team with a $2.1B valuation and 100 million claimed users, and three different counts of what it has made.
Nov 10, 2025: Gamma said it crossed $100M ARR profitably and raised a $68M Series B at a $2.1B valuation led by Andreessen Horowitz. Annual recurring revenue is not profit.
About page and Aug 11, 2026 Creation Index: 625M+ gammas by 100M+ people. The Nov 2025 post said 70M users. Registered, not paying.
Gamma: AI Slides & Design page: 4.8 from 1.1K ratings; Apple’s API gives 4.76 from 1,055, which rounds to the same. A new app with a small base.
Displayed TrustScore from 126 reviews; the page’s own bars (74% one-star, 11% five-star) average about 1.7.

Fast and impressive when it works. Trustpilot reviewers describe an AI that ignores instructions, a look that repeats, and billing they could not undo.
Reviews from May to Sep 2026 repeat three themes. On quality: “The AI frequently fails to follow very clear instructions” (a paying user, Sep 30), “Every presentation looks the same” (May 4), and an Ultra subscriber who says the agent “simply does not listen” (Jun 13). On export: a reviewer says slides overflow and PowerPoint exports are nonsense (Aug 25). On billing: a reviewer says Gamma refused a refund under a policy that covers requests only within 3 days of subscribing (Sep 7); Gamma’s help center confirms that window, plus credit-usage caps. A few positives exist, such as “cost efficient” (May 12).
The listing shows 4.8 out of 5 from 1.1K ratings, seller Gamma Tech, Inc., free, with a 2026 copyright. The written review I read is a rave about doing everything from the phone. With only about a thousand ratings and a very new app, this is a thin base next to Trustpilot’s 126 detailed complaints.
A Gamma engineer introduced the API in public beta. One commenter wrote that you do not zero-shot a deck, that Gamma helps with mid-level automation and first drafts, and that for commercial use a brand kit is “non-negotiable” and the data must be accurate. It is one comment on a vendor post, a year old, but it describes the same “first draft, not final” pattern.
Free to start, $9 a seat to remove the badge, and credits are the meter you will watch.
Verified on Gamma’s pricing page on October 3, 2026, read through a reader service that returned the US page, which defaults to annual billing. The US view shows per-seat monthly equivalents when billed annually: Plus $9 ($108 a year), Pro $18 ($216), Ultra $90 ($1,080). Gamma says annual billing saves “up to 28%” versus paying monthly, so monthly prices are higher; I could not read the US monthly figures and do not state them.

Where Gamma fits in 2026.
Gamma is built for exactly this. Start on Free.
Export tests first; reviewers report overflow and layout surprises in exports.
Gamma connects to Claude and ChatGPT. See the ChatGPT and Gemini reviews.
The API starts at Pro. Compare Zapier and Make for the plumbing.
Gamma makes content sites, not apps. Compare Lovable.
Type an idea or paste a document, get a styled draft, then keep editing in plain language.
The core loop is simple. You start with a prompt, an outline or an imported file (PDF and PPTX import are on every plan), choose a theme or your brand, and Gamma writes and lays out the content, generating images with whichever model your plan allows. Gamma 3.0 (Sep 15, 2025) added the Gamma Agent, which Gamma says can research the web with citations, restyle images or a whole deck, and review your deck and make changes, plus Smart Diagrams, where you write the idea and Gamma draws it. The Aug 25, 2026 update to Gamma Imagine adds reference images and new styles for on-brand graphics.
Gamma’s help center describes the Agent-led create flow: you write a prompt (or paste notes, attach files, pick a template, pull from connected tools), the Agent asks a few questions about goal and audience, shows you a plan for story, style and look, and only builds after you approve; it then researches, writes, designs and generates images while narrating progress. For changes you tell it what feels off in chat, or edit by hand, and you can ask for a new look without regenerating, so content and edits stay put. Gamma’s FAQ admits this takes longer than the old one-shot generator.
| Capability | What Gamma documents | What I could not verify |
|---|---|---|
| Generate | Presentations, docs, websites, social, graphics from a prompt or import; up to 10 slides per prompt on Free, 100 on Plus | Output quality and variety in real use |
| Agent | Researches with citations, restyles, rewrites, reviews decks | How reliably it follows instructions (reviewers say poorly) |
| Imagine | AI design canvas with reference images and styles | Brand fidelity on strict systems |
| Models | 20+ models listed, including Claude, GPT/DALL-E, Gemini, Flux, Recraft, Ideogram, Luma, Leonardo | Which model is used for which action |
| Export | PDF, PPTX, PNG, Google Slides; hosted gamma.site pages | PowerPoint fidelity on complex layouts |

Prompt, review the structure, edit with the Agent, animate, export or publish.
Following Gamma’s own materials: start from a prompt or file, pick a theme, let Gamma generate, then tighten with the Agent (rewrite, restyle, translate, diagram), add images or AI animations, and share as a link, a published site on a gamma.site subdomain (or your own domain on higher plans), or an export. Gamma says every project is private by default and that you can see engagement analytics on shared content.
See it in Gamma’s own words
Official video from Gamma’s own YouTube channel (channel UClkZM098Hy9QdN6tThcimfg, channel name “Gamma”), published Sep 9, 2026, about 2 minutes 48 seconds. It shows adding AI animations to a presentation. It is a vendor tutorial, so treat it as a demo, not a test.
Generate decks from CRM rows, transcripts and templates, and pay for it in credits.
Gamma’s API launched in public beta on Sep 23, 2025 and its developer docs now describe generating presentations, documents, websites and social posts programmatically, including generating from a template, exporting, listing themes and folders, and reading engagement metrics. Authentication is by API key (a header, available on Pro, Ultra, Teams or Business plans) or OAuth for apps acting for users and MCP servers. The quickstart posts text, a format and a card count, then polls every 5 seconds; the sample response shows the credits deducted and remaining. API use consumes AI credits on paid plans.
Native connectors for Claude and ChatGPT, plus Zapier, Make, n8n and enterprise tools.
Gamma’s integrations page lists Claude and ChatGPT as AI assistants powered by Gamma’s native MCP connector, Atlassian Rovo, Superhuman Go, Profound and Glean for knowledge and productivity, and the Gamma API, n8n, Make and Zapier (8,000+ apps) for automation. The developer docs add that the MCP server lets AI tools create new gammas and read existing ones via OAuth with Dynamic Client Registration, and that some connectors work on all plans without an API key. Gamma’s own channel posted “Gamma on Claude” on Sep 8, 2026, showing decks made inside a Claude chat and combined with Gmail, Slack and HubSpot connectors.
| Integration path | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Claude and ChatGPT | Native MCP connectors to create decks and docs inside the chat | gamma.app/integrations |
| Atlassian Rovo, Superhuman Go, Glean, Profound | Turn knowledge, email threads and traffic insights into decks | gamma.app/integrations |
| Zapier, Make, n8n | Trigger generation from 8,000+ apps or self-hosted workflows | gamma.app/integrations |
| Gamma API | API key on Pro and above; OAuth for apps and MCP servers | developers.gamma.app |
| Import and export | PDF and PPTX import; PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides export | gamma.app/pricing |
For how MCP connectors behave in practice, see our Claude MCP & Connectors guide and the ChatGPT review.
Credits, with a rollover cap, replaced unlimited AI in September 2025.
Gamma says credits map directly to AI cost: more expensive actions, models and longer generations use more. Paid plans include monthly credits (Plus 1,000, Pro 4,000, Ultra 20,000, Business 10,000 per seat), unused credits roll over up to twice the monthly amount (Plus can hold 2,000), the Free plan’s 400 starter credits do not refill, and paid users can buy more. Gamma’s Sep 30, 2025 post says more than 90% of users would see no change and that the top 10% of users were the reason for credits and Ultra. In an API example in the docs, a 10-card generation deducted 15 credits; that is a documentation example, not a price list. Gamma’s help center adds that Create with AI is metered per slide and per image, that Agent edits, added cards and new layouts also use credits, that image models show their credit cost before you generate, that plan credits are drawn first, then purchased credits, then workspace credits, and that consumption rates are subject to change.

SOC 2 Type II on the pricing page, but individual plans may train AI features on your content unless you opt out.
Gamma states it is a SOC 2 Type II compliant organization and links to a Trust Center. Business lists SSO and SOC 2 documentation on request; Enterprise adds SCIM, connector and API governance and advanced admin controls. Gamma’s FAQ says every project is private by default.
The sentence to read is in Gamma’s own FAQ: for Team and Business workspaces, content is automatically excluded from AI training, but for individual Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra workspaces, content is allowed to be used to train AI features by default, and you can opt out in account settings. Gamma also routes work to third-party models (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and others), which it says it selects while ensuring data privacy and security. I did not review Gamma’s privacy policy or subprocessors list in detail.
| Question | What Gamma says | Caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Certification | SOC 2 Type II compliant | Report access is a Business or Enterprise item |
| Training on my content | Excluded on Team and Business; allowed by default on individual plans with opt-out | Default is on for Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra |
| Access control | Private by default; SSO on Business; SCIM on Enterprise | Public publishing is your choice per gamma |
| Model providers | Claude, ChatGPT and DALL-E, Gemini, Flux, Recraft, Playground, Ideogram, Luma, Leonardo | Provider-level data handling not reviewed |
| Billing and refunds | Cancel anytime; access remains to period end; refunds only within 3 days of subscribing and under credit-usage caps, per the help center | Reviewers report refund refusals; monthly plans renew automatically on the same date |
Consultants, marketers, founders and educators who need decent decks fast.
| Your situation | Fit | Likely plan |
|---|---|---|
| Consultant or founder needing proposals and pitch drafts fast | Strong; first drafts in minutes | Plus or Pro |
| Teacher or trainer making lesson decks and handouts | Strong; docs, decks and multipage gammas | Free or Plus |
| Marketer repurposing content into decks, posts and one-pagers | Good; watch the repeating style | Pro |
| RevOps team generating decks from CRM or meeting data | Good; API and connectors, credit-metered | Pro, Ultra or Business |
| Anyone needing exact PowerPoint fidelity or pixel control | Weak to mixed; test exports first | Free to test |
| A team that cannot allow default AI training on content | Possible on Business or Enterprise; individual plans need opt-out | Business or Enterprise |
Seven real, current limitations.
Since Sep 2025 advanced AI is metered; Free’s 400 credits never refill and paid pots roll over only up to 2x.
Trustpilot reviewers (May to Sep 2026) say it ignores clear instructions, and one Ultra subscriber says it “simply does not listen.”
A May 2026 reviewer says every presentation looks the same; Gamma sells themes and Imagine to counter it.
An Aug 2026 reviewer reports overflow and bad PowerPoint exports; I did not test exports.
Gamma’s help center says refunds are available only if requested within 3 days of subscribing and below a credit-usage cap (fewer than 200 credits on Plus, 600 on Pro, 1,000 on Business, 2,000 on Ultra). Several Trustpilot reviewers describe being refused outside that window, and monthly plans renew automatically on the same date.
Per Gamma’s help center, Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra content is allowed to train AI features by default; you opt out under Settings, Data Controls. Business and Enterprise are locked off.
The App Store app is new with about 1.1K ratings, and Trustpilot is a self-selected 126; neither measures production reliability.

No affiliate relationship shapes this review.
Gamma’s help center says it runs an affiliate program through PartnerStack, but JAVIS has not joined it and has no verified affiliate URL, so every CTA points to gamma.app or a live JAVIS review. If that changes, the facts, limitations and alternatives will not. This is a VERIFIED EDITORIAL REVIEW: I read official pages, docs, blog posts and review sites; I did not make a deck or run a controlled test.

How much does Gamma cost?
On the US page, billed yearly: Plus $9 per seat per month ($108 a year), Pro $18 ($216) and Ultra $90 ($1,080). Business and Enterprise are team plans. Gamma says annual billing saves up to 28% versus monthly.
Did Gamma change its pricing?
Yes. On Sep 30, 2025 Gamma moved from unlimited AI for a flat fee to a hybrid with monthly credits and added the Ultra plan. Gamma said more than 90% of users would see no change.
Does Gamma train AI on my content?
Gamma says Team and Business workspaces are excluded automatically, while individual Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra content may be used to train AI features by default, with an opt-out in account settings.
Does Gamma have an API?
Yes. API key access requires a Pro, Ultra, Teams or Business plan, and API use consumes credits. OAuth is available for apps and MCP servers.
Does Gamma work with Claude and ChatGPT?
Yes. Gamma’s integrations page lists native MCP connectors for both, and its channel posted Gamma on Claude on Sep 8, 2026. Zapier, Make and n8n are also supported.
Does Gamma give refunds?
Only in a narrow window. Gamma’s help center says a refund is available if you request it within 3 days of subscribing and have used fewer than a set number of credits (200 on Plus, 600 on Pro, 1,000 on Business, 2,000 on Ultra). Monthly plans renew automatically on the same date.
Why is Gamma rated so low on Trustpilot?
Its displayed TrustScore is 1.6 from 126 reviews, with 74% one-star. Reviewers cite ignored instructions, a repeating style, export problems and refused refunds. The App Store, by contrast, shows 4.8 from about 1.1K ratings.
